CHEAKS is a very straightforward, comprehensive, and user-friendly assessment. I highly recommend this tool because it is a strong reflection of environmental knowledge and attitudes and also has a lot of versatility. It can be used in science and environmental classrooms, afterschool settings, and could be easily adapted for older age groups. As environmental consciousness is becoming increasingly important to instill in youth, the need for assessments to measure knowledge and attitudes towards the environment are important so that we can understand what areas of education need to be paid more attention and where there should be stronger advocacy. The ONLY reservation I have about this tool is its length--younger kids may find it a bit too long, but I imagine an abridged version could easily be developed because users have the scoring manual and can ensure there are enough questions included for each subscale.
