This study was evaluating a CEAS (Children's Environmental Affect Scale) suggesting that it was a more suitable and viable survey than CHEAKS. This was because the development was needed to close the gap that currently exist for assessing environmental literacy. CHEAKS is seen to only measure environmental knowledge and environmental attitudes. Other components are not assessed by CHEAKS suggesting CEAS is the broader tool, possibility to use CEAS in conjunction with CHEAKS.

Zafeiroudi, A. & Hatzigeorgiadis, A (2013). Environmental responsibility scales in secondary school students: Beliefs and perceived information. ICERI2013 Proceedings, 6219-6226.

The study developed and test the integrity of three scales that assess environmental responsibility in a secondary school setting. Development of scales based on CHEAKS, 234 secondary students were assessed using this scale, the new survey had a Cronbach's alpha equalling 0.88. Possible new tool: ACCET, Jones (2003).
