Dear ATIS,
My review is regarded to NEP-R, New ecological Paradigm Scale assessment tool
Environmental literacy contains three major parts: Knowledge, attitude and activism
The aim of the tool, as far as I understand is to measure the attitude towards the environment. Looking at the NEP-R assessment tool is seems that from 15 questions 12 of them are based on environmental knowledge (questions no. 1,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11,13,14,15).
I think that the knowledge should be a separate part from the attitude. And the principles that guide the first NEP writers in 1978 are not sufficient today.
I would have added few questions to the assessment tool like:
1. Do I have enough knowledge to evaluate the influence of the human kind on the environment?
2. My questions to my answers are based on knowledge/media/feeling/ environment influence
3. In which field of knowledge I need to expand my knowledge in order to cope better with environmental issues today. (General science, biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, politics, sociology, psychology, economics…)
