STEM Learning Activation Survey

Designed to be used with 10-14 year-olds, these survey scales are used to assess an individual across multiple dimensions of STEM learning activation. Please note that these can be used in conjunction with the scientific sensemaking scale included above. These scales can be used concurrently to measure the multi-dimensional construct of STEM learning activation or separately to measure individual dimensions.

Comments:

Reliability: The reliability of the STEM Fascination scale is good (i.e., Cronbach’s alpha is 0.85; polychoric alpha is 0.89), indicating that this scale is creating a well-defined latent trait—STEM Fascination. The reliability of the STEM Values scale is good (i.e., polychoric alpha is 0.82), indicating that this scale is creating a well-defined latent trait – STEM Values. The reliability of the STEM Competency Beliefs scale is good (i.e., Cronbach’s alpha is 0.83; polychoric alpha is 0.87), indicating that this scale is creating a well-defined latent trait – STEM Competency Beliefs. The reliability of the STEM Innovation Stance Scale is great (i.e., Cronbach’s alpha is 0.90; polychoric alpha is 0.93), indicating that this scale is creating a well-defined latent trait – STEM Innovation Stance.
