A general and straightforward tool that would help identify where students see themselves as learners of science and how they are connected to the world of science. Additionally the assessment can also be used as a planning tool for educators to identify deficiencies and potential new areas of exploration. As with many of these tools, content for formal science educators is directed by State and National Standards, so it would be important to develop tools that would be useful to measure these specific content areas in relation to attitude, awareness and action as opposed to knowledge.
