In my experience of bringing science related, hands-on activities to youth in my project, community outreach events, and classrooms I have seen the excitement on the faces of the youth when they are able to see science in action. In the classroom setting as young as 3rd graders to middle school age, many come in with reserved attitudes but when they participate with a hands-on experiment that works and shows them science in action their eyes and attitude light up!
I have not formally provided a CSCS survey to these students but I have seen their responses on their faces. I would be interested in providing the survey to the youth following a classroom demonstration.
